Employment start date: Immediately
Employment type: Hourly, full time, seasonal

Who are we?

For over 35 years, B.W. Furlong & Associates has provided world-class equine veterinary services in Oldwick, NJ with additional locations in Ocala/Wellington, FL and Middleburg, VA.

We pride ourselves on being progressive leaders who deliver the ultimate in veterinary care with a team of 17 highly skilled clinicians, including specialists in internal medicine, reproduction, sports medicine, and surgery. The backbone of our practice are our veterinary assistants and technicians, who work to ensure that patients receive the highest level of veterinary care.

We invest in our team, fostering growth and skill development in a supportive atmosphere, and can proudly identify a number of technicians who have advanced into new roles throughout their time working in the practice. We encourage strong relationships through advanced training, team building activities, events, and a culture of open communication.

Where are we?

In the winter months, a number of our veterinarians and technicians pack their bags and relocate to sunny south Florida, practicing in and around Wellington, FL. In the winter months, Wellington is the equine capital of the world, based on the influx of horses to compete in winter show circuits. Our office is located in Loxahatchee, just minutes from Wellington and the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. Our 10 acre property houses our imaging center, barn, and office space.

What will you be doing?

We are looking to add to our team in preparation for the growing demand during the winter show season. Ambulatory Technicians assist veterinarians during farm visits in a number of ways; handling horses, setting up veterinary equipment, managing truck inventory, preparing patients for procedures, and helping with billing. This position is well suited for someone looking to move into the equine veterinary industry, with either a background working in a show barn setting, experience assisting veterinarians, or a formal education/certification as a veterinary technician. We are happy to provide training for the right person; someone who has exceptional horsemanship and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with veterinarians, learning something new every day, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. We ask that you are dependable, responsible, and willing to work hard.

The schedule for this position is 5-6 days a week, for approximately 40-45 hours a week. Flexibility is necessary in order to accommodate staffing needs. This position is full time and seasonal from approximately October to May. For the right candidate, a year round position will be available. Training will be provided in our Oldwick, NJ hospital prior to employment beginning in Florida; travel and accommodations will be covered during training.

Our compensation package includes: hourly compensation starting at $20/hr, discounted veterinary services and products, and logo wear. A full time, non seasonal position also includes health & welfare benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, a student loan repayment program, 401k with 3% employer contribution, profit sharing, Paid Time Off (annual and CE), Employee Assistance Program, and CE annual allowance with paid time off.
