Who are we?

B.W. Furlong & Associates was founded in 1982 by Dr. Brendan Furlong, and has steadily grown from a one man operation to a practice of 21 clinicians and over 40 support staff and technicians. The practice includes a veterinary hospital, imaging center, surgery center, and rehab center in Oldwick, NJ, an imaging center and office in Wellington, FL, and ambulatory services offered in Oldwick, NJ, Ocala, FL, Wellington, FL, and in other seasonal locations.

We pride ourselves on being progressive leaders who deliver the ultimate in veterinary care; among our 21 clinicians we have 6 specialists in internal medicine, reproduction, sports medicine, and surgery. Similarly, our hospital technicians and assistants have a variety of experience and expertise, in areas including anesthesia, imaging, medicine, and rehabilitation.

Where are we?

New Jersey is the east coast’s best kept secret, with our headquarters located in the idyllic countryside of Hunterdon County. The area offers easy access to New York City, Philadelphia, and the Jersey Shore along with hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails and endless outdoor activities. Most staff live within a 30 minute drive of the practice and are able to commute without taking major highways. For those raising a family, a number of schools in the area offer award winning school systems.

 

What will you be doing?

Based on continuous growth of our hospital, B.W. Furlong & Associates has recently created the role of Hospital Manager (HM). This position will be focused exclusively on managing the ~20 technicians and support staff in our hospital and rehab teams. The role is ideal for a veterinarian or experienced technician who has a demonstrated track record of developing and leading exceptional teams through performance coaching, people management, and effective communication (10+ years working in an animal hospital, 5+ years of leadership responsibilities). The HM will thrive in managing & leading people – interviewing, hiring, and onboarding the right people to the company. Our ideal candidate, above all else, loves working with people to solve complex problems and enjoys actively contributing to a positive team environment. They will enjoy giving feedback, receiving feedback, and constantly striving to improve themselves and those around them. As onboarding, training, and performance coaching will be a primary responsibility of this individual, the position is appropriate for someone with extensive equine experience.

Included in managing the hospital team will be tasks such as staff schedule management, policy development and implementation, and managing veterinary equipment repairs and basic IT troubleshooting. The HM will collaborate with leadership and ownership to develop and execute business growth strategy, and will work with leadership to resolve significant concerns and issues. After building relationships built on trust and respect, the HSM will be provided the autonomy to help the hospital develop into the best version of itself, while also having the support of the rest of leadership however necessary.

The hospital, based in Oldwick, NJ operates 24/7. Regular weekday business hours are 8am to 5pm. It is anticipated that the daily work schedule may vary based on the needs of the hospital staff and other circumstances including time on weekends at their discretion. On average, this position will require 40+ hours per week.

This is an exempt position with a minimum annual salary of $75,000 commensurate with experience. The total compensation package includes: relocation assistance if necessary, signing bonus,, health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a student loan repayment program, 401k with 3% employer contribution, profit sharing, 15 days of Paid Time Off with additional time off for CE, temporary gas stipend, Employee Assistance Program, Long Term Disability insurance, logo wear, and discounted veterinary products and services.
