Where are we?

New Jersey is the east coast’s best kept secret, with our headquarters located in the idyllic countryside of Hunterdon County. The area offers easy access to New York City, Philadelphia, and the Jersey Shore along with hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails and endless outdoor activities. Our facilities house advanced diagnostic imaging services, a rehabilitation center, surgery suites, and a full service hospital.

What will you be doing?

The Imaging Technician works under the supervision of the veterinary lead for diagnostic imaging to include MRI and Nuclear Scintigraphy. This position manages the preparation of horses for the MRI and Nuclear Scintigraphy and acts as liaison for referring veterinarians. The incumbent demonstrates strong technical skills with a broad knowledge base of all aspects of hospital operations and enjoys educating and leading others. Responsibilities broadly include ensuring that patient care standards are maintained using B.W Furlong & Associates Core Values as a guide and acts as a resource for the hospital team. This position carries all the job duties of a Hospital Technician with additional responsibilities for imaging. It is full time (37+ hours/week) and requires flexibility to manage the imaging patient caseload, on-call obligations, and contributing to Hospital patient care when not imaging. Imaging Technicians work as part of the larger Hospital team, alongside our doctors, with other technicians, and independently, to perform procedures, treatments, and services.

This position is ideal for someone who has a formal education/certification as a veterinary technician, has worked as a vet tech or vet assistant either in small or large animal practice, or has extensive experience providing medical care for horses in a barn setting. Most critically, candidates must demonstrate exceptional horsemanship skills, including maneuvering and positioning sedated patients. Additionally, candidates will be expected to have a strong baseline of technical skills and vocabulary, such as administering medications, running fluids, and updating doctors with patient status (vital parameters, etc). Experience working with imaging modalities in veterinary settings is a plus; for those that do not have those skills, but demonstrate an ability to learn and retain information quickly, are also gladly considered. The ideal candidate will be excited by learning new skills, have a high attention to detail and patience for capturing exceptional images, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. Opportunities for personal and professional growth are readily available, both in the forms of increased/new responsibilities and increased compensation.

Two positions, with the same responsibilities, are available for two different schedules: #1 is Sunday from 7a-12p, Monday 8a-8p, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8a-4p. #2 is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 12p-8p, Friday from 8a-8p, and Saturday from 7a-12p. Technicians participate in an on-call rotation which is approximately one night per week, based on staffing. Additional hours are sometimes necessary depending on the needs of the hospital.

Our compensation package includes: hourly compensation starting at $22/hr, health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a student loan repayment program, 401k with 3% employer contribution, profit sharing, Paid Time Off (annual and CE), Employee Assistance Program, student loan repayment program, Short and Long Term Disability, paid parental leave, license and association membership fees, tuition sponsorship, CE annual allowance with paid time off, logo wear, and discounted veterinary products and services.
