Peak Performance Equine Services (PPES) is an ambulatory equine veterinary practice that is headquartered in Ocala, FL with satellite coverage in Middleburg, VA. PPES is a subsidiary of B.W. Furlong & Associates, an equine veterinary practice headquartered in Oldwick, NJ. Together, the two practices employ 17 veterinarians.

Peak Performance focuses on high performance sport horses in the Olympic equestrian sports; the bulk of the clients are professionals in the industry. Where are we?
Our Virginia operations are centered around Middleburg, VA, in the heart of Virginia horse country. There are a number of established equestrian venues such as Great Meadow, site of Nations Cup and Olympic Trials, and Morven Park, site of CCI-4*L, in the vicinity. The region boasts access to world class referral centers residing in an idyllic setting with big city options just a short drive away. For the outdoor enthusiast, Middleburg offers access to hiking, including close proximity to the Appalachian trail, is a great biking region with many scenic routes, and plenty of water sports on local rivers and waterways.

What will you be doing?
We are looking to expand our team to meet the current demand and establish a year round presence in Middleburg. This position is located in Middleburg, VA, with the opportunity to travel to world class competitions throughout the year.

The company seeks an independent, self-motivated, high performing professional who has a focus and interest in performance horse practice. The ideal candidate has completed an equine internship, has been in practice for 2-3 years, and has experience with high level performance horses. Candidates will be required to obtain a Virginia and Maryland license.

The core of the practice is composed of 3 day eventers from novice through 5 star, but also offers the opportunity to work with dressage, hunter-jumper, combined driving, and thoroughbreds. The existing client base will provide a new team member with the caseload to find their footing, while also presenting the opportunity to pursue and develop any veterinary interests. The position allows veterinarians to practice with a high degree of autonomy, while still providing the support and mentorship of a full-service practice.

Due to geographic coverage of the region, very limited emergency services are offered in Middleburg. Established relationships with local referral centers provide backup/on-call services.
