Petrisor Baia, Dr. Med Vet., MS, DACVS

A native of Romania, Dr. Baia was born and raised in the city of Severin.  He obtained his DVM degree in 2004 from Banat’s University of Agriculture Sciences and Veterinary Medicine – Timisoara, Romania. He then came to the United States to pursue a career in equine medicine and surgery. He spent two years working in private practice, and then began his first private practice equine internship at Chino Valley Equine Hospital in Southern California in 2007 followed by a second sports medicine/surgery internship at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital in Texas in 2008. In 2009, Dr. Baia enrolled at Louisiana State University to complete an Equine Medicine/Surgery Internship, followed by a combined large animal surgery residency and a M.S. in Biomedical Sciences, which he completed in 2013. After completing his residency at LSU, Dr. Baia joined a practice in Louisiana, where he worked for 5 years as the primary surgeon. His primary interests are orthopedics/minimally invasive procedures as well as sports medicine and diagnostic imaging. When Dr. Baia is not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. Some of his interests outside of work include outdoors activities, cycling, tennis, and traveling.
