Sarah Malcolm
While she was the fifth generation of her family to be born in Staten Island, New York, Sarah was raised at the Jersey Shore. She became interested in horses at summer camp and began taking lessons at the age of 12. Shortly after starting lessons, Sarah couldn’t spend enough time with horses and began volunteering at a local farm where she assisted with therapeutic lessons for children with disabilities. From there, Sarah went on to work at hunter/jumper farms, gaining as much knowledge as she could while her passion grew. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Centenary College in May 2015 with a BS in Equine Studies and a concentration in Equine Science. While at Centenary, she took an elective course about rehabilitation and the different therapies offered for sport horses. Intrigued by this, Sarah completed an internship in the fall of 2014 with Liz Perry at High Brass Farm. During her internship, she had the opportunity to assist with treatments in an Aqua Pacer and with lameness evaluations. This internship ignited Sarah’s passion for rehabilitation and solidified her career path. Sarah joined the Soundness Center team in June 2015 and received her certification in Equine Sports Massage Therapy from Equissage in November 2016. In her spare time, you can find Sarah playing with her dog, Olivia, riding, hanging out with her friends and family, or at the beach.
