Kristy Matarazzo

Kristy is a native of Hunterdon County, NJ. Growing up on a small family farm, she was hooked on horses since early childhood. On her 4th birthday she got her first pony, Captain America, and fell in love with taking care of him as much as riding him. Through the years she progressed from showing in 4-H to competing in the Marshall & Sterling Child Jumper League, while still having a special love for trail rides and hunter paces with her mom. The desire for a career in equine veterinary medicine started as a young adult after watching a veterinarian perform a major field surgery on her beloved Quarter Horse, Hank, and being responsible for his wound care and antibiotic injections afterwards. After high school, she brought her Thoroughbred Red to college with her in Ohio where she received a B.S. in Equine Health Technology as well as Equine Facility Management from Otterbein College and an A.A.S. in Veterinary Technology from Columbus State. While completing rotations at the Ohio State Vet school, she took a strong interest in equine anesthesia, which she has been performing ever since. Upon graduating college, she passed the VTNE to become a credentialed technician and has worked in the industry since 2001. Outside of work, Kristy is an active volunteer, including Co-Directing the Hunterdon County Animal Response Team and serving as a Regional Contact for the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians. In her free time she loves cooking and entertaining, riding and caring for her 3 horses and spending time with her dog Sammie.
