Jan Henriksen, DVM, IVCA Certified

Originally born in Norway, Dr. Henriksen came to the U.S. at the age of three, along with his father who was pursuing his dream of training Standardbred race horses. While learning horsemanship through working in his father’s successful stable through the years, Dr. Henriksen took a strong interest in observing and assisting the veterinarians who worked on his father’s horses. This interest led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine; he graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006, while spending his clinical year at the University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation, he joined Walnridge Equine Clinic, where he focused primarily on the standardbred race horse practice. After seven years, he decided he wanted to work with sport horses, and joined the practice in 2013. Since joining the practice he has developed many areas of focus. His primary areas of interest are lameness, imaging, and performance horse medicine; additionally he has become increasingly interested in chiropractic work after completing his chiropractic certification in 2017. Dr Henriksen represented the Canadian Eventing Team at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, 2019 Pan American Games (Team Bronze)  and the 2020 (2021) Tokyo Olympics.  Away from work, Dr. Henriksen enjoys golf, wood-working, and spending time with his three Labrador Retrievers, Raven, Ottis, and Heidi. Dr. Henriksen can be found in Wellington, FL from late December until late March with the occasional trip to Ocala and NJ during the winter.
