Michael Fugaro, VMD, DACVS, On-Call Surgeon

Dr. Michael Fugaro owns and operates Mountain Pointe Equine Veterinary Services in addition to providing his surgical expertise at B.W. Furlong & Associates. He graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Animal Science and is an alumnus from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine (Class of 1997). Dr. Fugaro completed a large animal internship at University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada and a large animal surgical residency at Purdue University. He received his board certification in large animal surgery with the ACVS in 2003.

Previously, Dr. Fugaro was the resident veterinarian and a tenured Full Professor at Centenary College (now Centenary University) having affiliations in the Equine Studies and Math & Natural Sciences Departments. Dr. Fugaro has also taught adjunctively at Rutgers University in the Animal Science Department. Additionally, he has held full and part-time veterinary positions with the NJ Department of Agriculture’s Division of Animal Health and the NJ Racing Commission, respectively. Dr. Fugaro holds a multitude of surgical interests from abdominal/intestinal to foot related surgeries, however, his strong interests are related to orthopedic surgeries for the performance horse. When not performing surgeries, Dr. Fugaro enjoys golfing and going to the gym. He resides in Morris County with his wife and dog.
