Jennifer Whyard, BVetMed MRCVS, DACVS
Dr. Jen Whyard was raised on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. She started training in equestrian sports at an early age which continued throughout college. She completed a bachelors degree in biology at SUNY Stony Brook where she competed in IHSA hunter jumpers. She then traveled across the pond to pursue her veterinary degree at The Royal Veterinary College, University of London.
Dr. Whyard’s veterinary career commenced at Newmarket Equine Hospital in England where she completed a two year rotating hospital internship following vet school. This initiated her passion in surgery and working with equine athletes. She then completed a second surgical internship at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine before starting a large animal surgical residency at the University of Wisconsin, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Following residency, she started practicing as a board certified equine surgeon in private practice just outside of Houston, Texas where she has been working for the past 7 years. Dr. Whyard is experienced in soft tissue, orthopedic and emergency surgery with special interests in lameness, sports medicine and podiatry. She is happy to again enjoy the beautiful region of North East. Outside of work Dr. Whyard enjoys hiking with her two dogs, time with family and friends, gyming, sailing, traveling, art and cooking.
