Who are we?
B.W. Furlong & Associates’ imaging facility is an equine MRI referral center located in Loxahatchee, Florida. Since its inception in 2012, we have offered world class imaging services to patients that have traveled to south Florida from around the world to participate in the Winter Equestrian Festival and other events. B.W. Furlong & Associates is an equine veterinary practice headquartered in Oldwick, NJ, maintaining an active presence in the Wellington area year round.

We pride ourselves on the quality of the services we offer; not just the images that we produce but also the customer service we offer to our referring veterinarians. Our team is made up of a managing veterinarian, imaging technician, imaging assistant and office administrator. This small team works effectively together, using precise communication and by setting clear expectations. Where are we?
We are located just minutes outside of Wellington, Florida, in the surrounding farmland of Loxahatchee. In the winter months, Wellington is the equine capital of the world, based on the influx of horses to compete in winter show circuits. We are only a few miles away from Palm Beach International Equestrian Center, home of the Winter Equestrian Festival. Our 10 acre property houses our imaging center, barn, and shared office space with the B.W. Furlong & Associates veterinary team.

What will you be doing?
The imaging center is looking for an experienced individual to lead the preparation of horses for the standing MRI, perform the examinations, maintain records, and recover the horses to return them to their agents. Candidates must have a demonstrated history of exceptional horse handling, including maneuvering sedated horses. The candidate needs to be skilled in sedating horses, placing catheters, and monitoring the general health of patients.  This individual must have extensive knowledge of equine anatomy and preferably experienced with the Hallmarq standing MRI. Candidates must also demonstrate common sense and quick thinking which may be required in an emergency situation.

This position is full time and year round with high seasonal activity approximately October – May. During peak busy season, the schedule for this role is Monday – Friday 7:30am-5:30pm (with a break for lunch). The schedule requires additional flexibility due to patient caseload, including an occasional weekend emergency MRI or extended weekday hours. Typically, there is greater schedule flexibility during the off season (June – September). There is a minimum guarantee of hours in the off season.
