Where are we?

New Jersey is the east coast’s best kept secret, with our headquarters located in the idyllic countryside of Hunterdon County. The area offers easy access to New York City, Philadelphia, and the Jersey Shore along with hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails and endless outdoor activities. Our facilities house advanced diagnostic imaging services, a rehabilitation center, surgery suites, and a full service hospital.

What will you be doing?

B.W. Furlong & Associates is looking to fill the role of Hospital Technician. This position is ideal for someone who has a formal education/certification as a veterinary technician, has worked as a vet tech or vet assistant either in small or large animal practice, or has extensive experience providing medical care for horses in a barn setting. Hospital Technicians work with our doctors, with other technicians, and independently, to perform procedures, treatments, and services. The Hospital Technician role enjoys working across a variety of different facets of the hospital: emergency care, general practice, internal medicine, surgery, reproduction, lameness, and laboratory services.

In addition to having exceptional horsemanship skills, candidates will be expected to have a strong baseline of technical skills and vocabulary, such as administering medications, running fluids, updating doctors with patient status (vital parameters, etc), and processing lab work. Those that do not have those skills, but demonstrate an ability to learn and retain information quickly, are also gladly considered. The ideal candidate will be excited by learning new skills and doing something different every day, and will have a passion for providing world class care for our patients and clients. Opportunities for personal and professional growth are readily available, both in the forms of increased/new responsibilities and increased compensation.

Positions are available in different shifts: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, as well as “swing shifts”, which are 3.5 days each: one weekend day of 7a-5p, two weekdays of 8a-8p, and Wednesday is our change over day – either 8a-2p or 2p-8p. Technicians participate in an on-call rotation which is approximately one night per week, based on staffing. Additional hours are sometimes necessary depending on the needs of the hospital.

Our compensation package includes: hourly compensation starting at $20/hr, health and welfare benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a student loan repayment program, 401k with 3% employer contribution, profit sharing, Paid Time Off (annual and CE), Employee Assistance Program, Long Term Disability insurance, license and association membership fees, CE annual allowance with paid time off, logo wear, and discounted veterinary products and services.
